Step by step
- Open the Criteria tab. To start from a complete set, choose a preset (ADG mid-rise, walk-up, tower, build-to-rent, or the houses presets) and press Apply. Save current as preset keeps your own.
- Set Project type to Apartments or Houses. Changing it clears the scheme and regenerates.
- In Planning controls, pick the zone, press Apply typical controls if you want the usual values, then enter height, storeys, FSR, coverage, separation, deep soil, open space and landscaped area. Tick the Site constraints that apply.
- In Building form and circulation, set wing depth, floor-to-floor heights, ground floor use, corridor and core sizes, units per core, lifts, wall thicknesses and the window-to-wall ratio.
- In Unit typologies, edit each type's bedrooms, area range, frontage, balcony and mix, or add a type. In Dwelling rules and Windows and doors, set room dimensions, targets and opening sizes.
- In Environment, set the midwinter sun hours and targets; in Basement parking, the rates and geometry; in Targets and Custom rules and ratios, your own goals and checks.
- Prefer words? In the Generate tab, describe the project and press Set criteria with AI, then review every value it set.

Presets and project type. The Criteria tab holds every rule the generator and the compliance checks use. Presets load a complete set in one step, such as a mid rise scheme to the Apartment Design Guide, a walk up or a tower, and Project type switches between apartments and houses.
Planning controls. Under Planning controls, pick the zone and apply its typical controls, then set the height, storeys, floor space ratio, site coverage, separation, deep soil and open space from your planning instrument. Tick any site constraints such as heritage or flooding.
Building form and circulation. Building form and circulation sets the wing depths, floor to floor heights, ground floor use, corridors, cores, lifts, wall thicknesses and the window to wall ratio.
Unit typologies and mix. Unit typologies define each type with its bedrooms, area range, minimum frontage, balcony and target mix. Add your own types, such as a two bed plus study, and keep the mix at one hundred per cent.
Environment, parking and rules. Environment sets the midwinter sun and cross ventilation targets. Basement parking sets the spaces per unit, bay and aisle sizes, levels and the ramp. Targets and custom rules add your own checks and live ratios.
